Very sad to hear that Jack LaLanne has died at 96. Anyone of a certain age will remember his television exercise program where LaLanne, in his trademark spandex, would enthusiastically lead viewers through his exercise regime. Way ahead of his time.

The mood at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is decidedly more upbeat this year. Frankly the show was fairly gloomy the last two years during the tumultuous time in the auto industry. Media types from all over the world are again patrolling the displays of the automakers in the Cobo Center.
