Moses Anderson was the first black bishop in the Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit.  He died in 2013.

Bishop Anderson traced his lineage to Ghana in West Africa. I accompanied him on one of his visits to the country in 1990, when he was honored by being named a tribal chief in the Ashanti tribe. Here he shares a laugh with nuns during his tour.
